This hapless soul chose to hang himself or was hung in a
remote enough location that his corpse was not discovered
for weeks. As the body deteriorates, it "melts" off the
noose in the fashion shown (other pictures of this phenomenon
exist). Needless to say, anyone encountering a scene like
this is in for a pungent and unforgettable surprise.
